bedroom blankets
I consider light woollen and cotton blankets to be year-round essentials for the bedroom. In summer I lay one over a sheet for the cooler morning hours and in winter it feels reassuring to know it’s there on stand by apart from my quilt.
A throw however is not usually considered for warmth, rather a design accessory and is best draped over the end of the bed or bedroom chair in case needed for a light afternoon nap. A throw can also add a dash of colour to update a bedroom with the minimum of fuss.
wool and cotton
Pure woollen and cotton blankets are classic items you can own forever and are beautifully warm and stylish. Traditionally woven in subtle textures and colours, wool and cotton have a soft, smooth appearance and are ideal for year-round comfort. Classic merino and lambswool are the softest woollen blankets and are non prickly, breathable and flame retardant. Perfect for babies and children.
synthetic and acrylic blankets
These are more affordable and washable than pure wool, however they pale by comparison when it comes to quality, durability and warmth
fleece
Soft fleece is an affordable, easy care polyester fabric suitable for lightweight throws for kids or travel. Warm and machine washable, fleece is made from 100% polyester and can be purchased by the metre for home sewing.
